Rutabaga Fries on an oven sheet

Rutabaga Fries

Recipe Adapted from: The Cookie Writer
Use leftover rutabaga to create these rutabaga fries. Healthy, vegan, and gluten-free, they are also a great alternative to the same old sweet potato fries.

Ingredients

  • 1 Rutabaga Small, skin removed
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
  • ½ teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Oregano Dried
  • ¼ teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Vegetable Peeler
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Large Bowl

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450°F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Slice the rutabaga in half and then cut into fries.
  • Add 1 Tablespoon olive oil to a large bowl and toss rutabaga until evenly coated.
  • Add spices and toss again.
  • Transfer to baking sheet and spread out evenly so no fries overlap.
  • Place into oven and bake for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and flip. Continue baking for another 10-15 minutes, or until desired consistency is reached.
  • Remove from oven and serve immediately.
